Are Openreach part of BT?
Openreach is a wholly owned subsidiary of BT Group. In 2017, as part of the Digital Communications Review published by Ofcom, Openreach became a distinct company from BT including its own staff, management, purpose and strategy.
Are Openreach installing 5G?
No, Openreach aren’t installing 5G as it is not a mobile infrastructure or network provider. Instead, it is installing a full fibre network across the UK in a bid to make reliable, robust and speedy connectivity available to all.
How is fibre installed?
Openreach and other infrastructure providers are working across the country to extend the reach of full fibre. Here at Daisy, we work with these carriers to provide the best option possible and will check if there’s full-fibre availability to your premises. When FTTP is available, this will generally be subject to a 10-working day installation. This normally involves a site visit from an engineer to set up and install a modem inside your premises.
When can I get FTTP?
You can get FTTP now if it’s available to you! Check our connectivity tool here. If FTTP isn’t available to you then FTTC could be an option. Our Ethernet products would also be a viable option for your business.
What is the Openreach plan?
Openreach pledged £12 million to connect more than 20 million premises over the coming years, including 3.2 million homes and businesses in hard-to-reach rural areas. The ambition to build ‘Full Fibre’ infrastructure to 20 million premises will deliver significant benefits to the country. Rural and urban communities in 251 market towns and villages are to be connected as part of the latest plans offering economic, social and environmental benefits to the whole country.
