Blueline is the North East’s largest taxi service. From its humble beginnings in 1958, the family-run business has been passed down the generations and is now arguably the most recognisable taxi company in the area, serving customers across Newcastle, Sunderland and beyond.
Blueline was previously in contract with Solutions Telecom for 1,000 mobile connections and a SIP trunking solution, but in 2018 Daisy Communications acquired its previous provider.
Ben Bell, Manager of Blueline said: “Solutions Telecom wasn’t an ideal provider for us. It was a much smaller company than Daisy Comms, so our options were very limited. The services were also pricier than Daisy and we were looking for an alternative before Daisy bought the company.”
The taxi company identified expensive call charges as one of its main issues and wanted to cut unnecessary costs so that the money could be invested into other areas of the business.
The Blueline team also wanted improved performance from their phone lines and broadband as the previous supplier wasn’t supplying the speeds or quality of service the taxi firm needed to run a successful operation.
After acquiring Solutions Telecoms, Daisy set to work contacting its new accounts and sought to find new and improved solutions for those customers.
With 11 offices across the North East, more than 20 employees operating within their offices and 1,200 self-employed drivers, Blueline needed a solution which was not only easy to deploy, but made it simple for staff to communicate effectively while also keeping costs to a minimum.
Daisy deployed either a faster broadband connection or a leased line service across all 13 sites, as well as a new SIP trunking solution to improve the business’ lines and calls services. In addition, Blueline was provided with a mobile tariff tailored to the needs of its 1,250 strong mobile fleet.
Ben Bell explained: “We wanted Daisy to give us cost savings while also improving our performance, which we knew was a big ask but they’ve delivered. We’ve now got a more reliable SIP trunking service and a cheaper broadband connection, but the difference in performance has definitely improved. We’ve also got a much greater support network since moving to Daisy and any issues we do have are sorted out quickly and easily.”
As a result of installing its broadband connection, Blueline has saved £500. After upgrading the business to Daisy’s SIP trunking solution, the business is also saving an additional £1,200 per month compared to what it was paying with its previous provider.
Blueline has also benefited from its new mobile solution, allowing managers to install bars on employees’ SIM cards and limit their usage, again slashing monthly bills.
Ben Bell said: “Our new solutions with Daisy have changed our business. We’re no longer worried about our phone line going down as our new SIP trunking service is stable and reliable. By cutting our bills by almost £1,700 per month, we’re making huge savings and its money which we’re using to invest in other areas of our business.
“The personal service we receive is also second to none and we know that whenever we need something in the future, we’ve got a friendly face at Daisy who we can speak to about our options. I’d recommend Daisy to anyone.”
